'Enemy of Anger' retreat announced
Spokane Mindfulness Meditation Community is hosting a one-day retreat, “The Enemy of Anger is Within,” this weekend.
The retreat will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Harmony Woods Retreat Center in Spokane. Buddhist nuns from Sravasti Abbey, Venerables Thubten Semkye and Venerable Thubten Jigme, will lead the course based on the book, "Working with Anger", by Sravasti Abbey founder Thubten Chodron.
Harmony Woods Retreat Center is located at 11507 South Keeney Road, Spokane; registration through Eventbrite is required.
“The Enemy of Anger is Within” retreat offers useful tools for people of all faiths (or none). It’s an opportunity to explore the deeper truth that no one makes us angry but ourselves. Despite all the blaming, finger pointing, and false narratives that portray the world as our enemy, only by conquering the anger within our hearts will our external “enemies” be vanquished. Using "Working with Anger" as the compass point, Venerables Semkye and Jigme will share their life experiences and personal practices on slowly healing from the mind of anger.
Sravasti Abbey is a Buddhist monastery practicing in the Tibetan tradition near Newport, Wash.
