CLARK FORK — Clark Fork High School student Trinity Swales was recently recognized for her contributions to the community and Bonner County Sheriff’s Office.

Not long ago Clark Fork High School art teacher Amy Stephensen was approached by a volunteer from the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office Neighborhood Watch Program. The volunteer was seeking help with a poster to better reflect to the community on how the program works, volunteer Craig Nelson said.

That task was explained to the art class to create a poster of a wagon wheel that would reflect how the watch program works. Depicting that the center hub of the wheel would represent the neighborhood watch captain. The spokes would identify each neighbor in the group and how the entire watch group would interact with their local law enforcement agency.

The concept focus involved the concept that if you see something suspicious, report it to a police department or sheriff office.

One of the students, Trinity Swales, stepped forward and accepted that challenge. Known as an exceptional art student, over the course of several days, Swales used her skills as a talented art student and developed a poster that involved all of the important factors of a successful neighborhood block watch program.

On the last day of school, June 9, Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler visited Clark Fork High School to thank Swales. As a token of thanks, Wheeler presented the teen with a Bonner County Sheriff Office challenge coin, a miniature badge and a BCSO shoulder patch.

The poster will be used as a training aide for future neighborhood watch groups and at various venues attended by volunteers of the Neighborhood Watch Program to educate the public.
