Robert Griffin, 92

Robert Griffin, 92, passed on June 2, 2023. He was born Aug. 29, 1931.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Nancy Griffin (Payne); his daughter, Gwendolyn Griffin-Halliday (Manuel); his son, Joseph Griffin (Michelle); five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, Clinton Schroeder Griffin.

Robert served in the Air Force during the Korean War on special assignment. He received a B.A. from EWU in education and an M.A. in counseling. He was an elementary school counselor for 30 years.

He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. He was a gifted classical guitarist. He enjoyed outdoor activities, cross-country skiing, fishing, canoeing, and sailing. Robert also enjoyed woodworking, carving ducks, and making wood toys and birdhouses.

His legacy was the family lake cabin he built by hand with his wife on Lake Pend Oreille, where they spent their summers. Robert was known for his wonderful sense of humor and storytelling.

A celebration of life will be held June 30, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the Little Church in the Wildwood, 9230 Sagle Road, Sagle, Idaho. It will be followed by a reception at the family cabin.
