June 29, 1973 – ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED

Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Moline of Sagle announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Crystal Ann, to Donald L. Gunter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Gunter, Sagle. Miss Moline, a 1972 SHS graduate, is employed by General Telephone Co. in Coeur d’Alene. Mr. Gunter, who graduated from SHS in 1969 and from the U of I, is an employee of Louisiana-Pacific Corporation in Sandpoint. The couple plan a September wedding.

HORSEMEN GAIN CONCESSIONS

Bonner County horsemen’s groups gained concessions from the fair board at its last meeting. The board agreed to temporarily halt its $2 per hour use fee for fairground facilities, and the horse groups will police their events as the board further studies the problem. The fee, which the horsemen termed “unreasonable,” had been charged for caretaker wages. The board also approved separate fairground parking for exhibitors and agreed to permit non-commercial food catering services and special stall-like movable areas for horse events.

CITY BEACH OFFERS FAMILY FUN

Sandpoint’s municipal beach and park are easily reached by car or on foot from downtown. The sand beach has swimming and diving facilities, with water skiing and boat mooring nearby. Lifeguards are on duty from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The park has a spacious lawn, wading pool for toddlers, tennis courts, picnic facilities, a large parking area, basketball courts, playground equipment, restrooms, and a snack bar. The park is open from sunrise until midnight.

Mr. and Mrs. Denny Shields, Oden, are parents of a daughter, Marilyn Beth, born June 25.

BRING PET BIRD, SEE A FREE SHOW!

Do any of you youngsters have a bird? Bring it to the Panida’s Saturday matinee and it will be worth the price of admission. The feature picture is Ken Murray’s “Bill and Coo,” but it isn’t necessary for the pet birds to do that. Manager Floyd Gray failed to specify how big or little the bird can be. He did, however, say it must be in a cage and be left in the lobby during the show. Prizes are offered.

BIRTHDAY PARTY

Saturday evening Bruce Wendle, son of Dr. and Mrs. C.C. Wendle, entertained a few friends in celebration of his 13th birthday. The group played bingo and enjoyed home movies. Guests included Lester Bergeron, Fritz Holz, Douglas Schedler, Gordon Roberts, and Kenneth Mott.

FUNDS SOUGHT TO HELP CLEANING UP

The city of Sandpoint has made application for $20,000 of emergency federal funds to assist the city in cleaning up debris left in the wake of the highest water since 1894, said Mayor Don J. Diehl.
