Youth sports jersey recycling program
The Sandpoint Parks and Recreation department is looking to reuse red and white youth league jerseys that area athletes may have outgrown. Laundered, gently used jerseys can be donated back to the parks and recreation department from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 1123 Lake Street in the Sandpoint City Hall. Each year, Sandpoint Parks & Recreation gives out approximately $2,000 in scholarships to youth programs, generously donated by various organizations. That money covers jersey costs as well as program fees. The department needs previously used jerseys in order to offer jerseys to those who can not afford to purchase them. Donating youth jerseys back after children finish their youth league programs helps keep more money in the scholarship fund for kids to help pay recreation program fees. With any questions, contact the parks and recreation department at 208-263-3613.
