| March 3, 2023 1:00 AM

Laura Lynn (Metcalf) Fenlon, 66, passed away peacefully Feb. 19, 2023, surrounded by her husband, daughters and sister, Cheri.

Born Sept. 10, 1956, as a "miracle premie" to Cari'Lyn Sue Wechter and James Ira Metcalf. So small she was carried home in a shoebox, she made it abundantly clear from the get-go that she was a fighter and she was on a mission. A true fighter she was.

Graduate of Sandpoint High School, Class of 1975, Laura knew her calling and devoted herself to helping others, becoming a CNA/care aide in various settings throughout the entirety of both her professional and personal life.

A loving mother and wife, Laura welcomed daughters Talonie Metcalf (Smith) in 1976 and Miranda Fenlon in 1991. In 1995, Laura married longtime life partner Tim Fenlon. The pair spent 37 years completing adventures full of travel, camping, concerts and laughs.

Among many other things, Laura was best known for being everyone's best friend, always seeing the silver lining, her goofy sense of humor and, of course, her famous fruit salad.

Anyone that knew Laura, whether for a minute or a lifetime knew her as a selfless, caring, open-hearted individual who shed rays of light into the lives of those in which she crossed paths. All in the same she was strong, fierce and fought with everything she had, even if she had nothing at all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cari'Lyn Wechter (Weisz) and James Metcalf; her big brother, Daryl Rose; her stepdad, Pete Weisz; and cherished Boston Terrier companion "Booger."

Laura leaves behind her husband, Tim Fenlon of Sagle; daughters; Talonie Smith (Andris) of Las Vegas and Miranda Fenlon of Sandpoint; grandchildren, Damontae Chisley (Morgan), Elijah Chisley (Rebekah), KC Chisley (Brooke), Preston Shea (Lauren) and Ava Brown; five great-grandchildren; and her sister, Cheri Willis (Sonny); along with numerous extended family members and friends she considered family. Missed by all, her fiery spirit and incredible strength will never be forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held in early summer per her request. Please reach out to Miranda at 208-597-3007 to be updated on the final details.
