Weight restrictions posted on most county roads

| March 3, 2023 1:00 AM

A majority of the county's road are either posted with weight restrictions or face their implementation in the near future, Bonner County Road & Bridge officials said Thursday.

As a reminder, a red flag or no flag on the sign indicates weight limits are in effect. A green flag indicates weight restrictions are imminent.

• District 1 (south of the Long Bridge) — All roads are posted with weight limits. Birch Banks Road, Hanford Drive, Comeback Bay Lane and E. Comeback Bay Lane are posted no hauling.

"This means the road is only open to regular, residential traffic," BCRB officials said in a press release. "No trailers or loaded truck beds."

• District 2 (Priest River/Priest Lake) — All roads north of the Pend Oreille River between and including Anselmo Road and Wrenco Loop, all roads in Laclede south of U.S. 2, and W. Settlement and Dufort roads are posted with weight limits.

• District 3 (Sandpoint/Clark Fork) — Weight restrictions are imminent on Peninsula Road. Weight limits were posted Thursday on Kootenai Bay Road, Oden Bay Road, Sunnyside Road (east and west entrances), Sunnyside Cutoff Road, Old Highway, French Road, Providence Road, McGhee Road, W. Pine Street, Baldy Mountain Road, Gooby Road, Mountain View Road, Woodland Drive and N. Boyer Road, W. Bronx Road, Hidden Valley Road, W. Selle Road and Racetrack Road.

Per county ordinance, it is the responsibility of the hauler to contact the Bonner County Road & Bridge Department to determine whether or not these restrictions are in place. The restrictions will remain in effect until changed, at which time updates will be posted.
