New middle school science curriculum mulled
SANDPOINT — The Lake Pend Oreille School District is recommending a new science curriculum for its sixth through eighth grades.
The recommendation follows a robust piloting and scoring process involving teachers, parents and community members, LPOSD officials said in a press release. The proposed adoption now heads to the school board for a vote.
The recommended curriculum is Science and Technology Concepts — Middle School Science by Carolina Biological.
A pair of community input meeting will be held next week. The first session will be held Monday, March 13, from 4-6 p.m. and the second will be held Thursday, March 16, from 8-10 a.m. Both meetings will be held at the district office, 901 Triangle Drive.
Materials from the curriculum will be available for community review at the meetings.
District residents unable to make the meetings may schedule an appointment the week of March 13 by contacting Lisa McElroy at 208-263-2184, ext. 1014.
