A number of Bonner County Road and Bridge employees were recognized last week after completing Local Highway Technical Assistance Council training.

Eight employees successfully completed the Road Scholar program, a series of professional development courses held by the Local Highway Technical Assistance Council. Sixth of them also completed the Road Master program.

The classes cover a wide variety of topics including safety, construction and maintenance techniques. To earn the distinction, the employees must pass the course with an 80% or higher on an exam.

Earning the Road Scholar designation were Bonner County Road and Bridge employees Larry Alley, William Libbers, Phillip Powell, Aaron Seck, Sean Smiley, Jonas Topp, Chris Williams and Caiden Oliver.

The program also includes a second level, the Road Master designation, which builds upon the Road Scholar program.

In addition to four core classes, participants must take five electives as part of the additional 80 hours of training.

They must successfully pass the course within the four-year time period and earn an 80% or higher on the test.
