CLARKSTON, Wash. — The Sandpoint High School tennis team took seventh overall and had seven individuals qualify for the championship round of the Clarkston Tourney this Friday and Saturday.

Neva Reseska led the way for the Bulldogs, taking second place in the singles tournament after a hard-fought battle with Pullman’s Gwyn Heim. Overall, Sandpoint had six other athletes make it past Friday’s round robin and qualified for the championship round. Qualifying for the championship round were Neva Reseska, first, singles; Adrian Doty and Aubrey Knowles, second, doubles; Maisie Brazill, second, singles; Ellie Tutin, third, singles; and Aden Heitz and Elliot Lowman, second, doubles.

In order to reach the championship round, players needed to win two out of three matches in Friday’s round robin. There were 12 teams from Idaho and Washington with over 200 total players participating.

“Our team played with intensity and passion. I was really encouraged with our effort as a team; we looked strong throughout the entire tourney,” Sandpoint coach Kent Anderson said. “This was the first time this season the team was able to play on a dry court with a proper net.”

Sandpoint tennis returns to action March 23 where they will play a doubleheader against Lewiston and Moscow.
