Where is the care for Idaho's women?

| March 26, 2023 1:00 AM

This is in response to a letter from Tim Knapp (Daily Bee, March 9, 2023).

In his letter, Mr. Knapp basically says that it is the job of the government to legislate morality. Mr. Knapp, no it is not.

The government provides the means to improve the lives of those it represents. It is not their job to dictate to others what "they" believe. Besides, how moral it is to require that all women must carry their child to term no matter the circumstances? Mr. Herndon, from what I understand, wouldn't even allow an abortion if it meant saving the mother's life.

This illustrates that Mr. Herndon and those like him care only about a person when they are in the womb. Isn't the mother's life just as important as the child's? Another illustration of this attitude is the recent removal from the state budget of $38 million from a federal grant to support child care for those who can't afford daycare and to prevent child neglect and abuse. Herndon and his ilk are not "pro-life," they are "pro-birth."

Once you are born, you're on your own, they couldn't care less.
