Sandpoint girls track and field takes first place at Timberlake Invitational

SPIRIT LAKE — In a small, 12-team field at the Timberlake Invitational on Friday, April 28, it was the Sandpoint girls track and field team who came out on top. Sandpoint, Clark Fork and Priest River all attended the invitational at Timberlake High School.

The Sandpoint girls won the meet with a total score of 163.25. Sandpoint boys finished in second place behind Timberlake with a score of 138.

Rusty Lee won the 400-meter dash for Sandpoint with a new personal record of 51.64. Lee also won the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.18 seconds, tying his all-time record. Lee also competed at the Oregon Relays the very next day and continued his winning ways, winning the 110-meter hurdles in 14.36 seconds and placing third in the 300-meter hurdles with a new personal record of 38.70 seconds.

Priest River’s Brayden Lamanna once again put up a solid time in the 3200-meter run finishing in second with a time of 10:37.21. Sandpoint’s Nathan Roche finished second and Daniel Ricks finished third in both the 800-meter and 1600-meter run.

Sandpoint’s 4x400 relay team consisting of Ryder Haynes, Callahan Waters, Jett Longanecker and Rusty Lee took home gold with a time of 3:34.12, just edging out Timberlake.

On the field, Slate Fragoso won the pole vault with a vault of 12-6. Clark Fork’s Seth Caven tied for third in the high jump with a jump of 5-4. For the Spartans, Carter Korff set new personal records in the long and triple jump with jumps of 20-00 and 38-06 to finish in first and second place, respectively.

For the girls, Anna Reinink ran an impressive 12.86 in the 100-meter dash, dominating the field for Sandpoint. Reinink also won the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.72 seconds, another personal record for the senior.

Maren Davidson and Grace Rookey finished second and third respectively in the 800-meter run for the Bulldogs with times of 2:28.48 and 2:28.98. Lily Richardson and Ani Vick took home first and second in the 300-meter hurdles with times of 49.53 and 49.85 seconds for Sandpoint.

Priest River’s Anna Deem, Hadassah Davis, Maicie Archer and Allyson Dickinson won the Sprint Medley Relay with a time of 1:57.65.

On the field, Sandpoint’s Ivy Smith placed second in both the shot put and the discus posting new personal records in both events. Smith threw 39-11 in the shot put and 116-00 in the discus. Erika Edmundson, Devin McDaniel and Avery Edmundson once again finished 1-2-3 in the pole vault for the Bulldogs.

Rounding out the meet was Priest River’s Kylee Swoboda and Sandpoint’s Noah Roark, who both tied for first place in the high jump with jumps of 4-10.

Sandpoint, Priest River and Clark Fork will all be back in action for the District 1 Meet of Champions in Post Falls on Thursday, May 4.
