Teach kids, then ask for more money
The West Bonner County School District levy is not for the kids.
WBCSD teachers already make far more than the school districts around them. What are the parents getting? The bottom of the bottom in SAT scores. It costs $14,000 a year to educate a poorly-performing student in West Bonner and $9,000 for a better-performing student in Post Falls.
Why should we do more for bad employees? Good employees get raises. Also, there is a 3% increase built into their pay already. Combine all that along with 100% for their benefits, and add in other stipends and bonuses, and West Bonner County School District is a pretty good gig. (The state is already putting an extra 16% into their envelopes after COVID.)
But why should we increase their pay for bad performance? Teach our children, and then come looking for more money.
