Unplug, head outside and have fun
Put the phone down and head outdoors.
The city of Sandpoint's Parks & Recreation Department is holding its annual "Unplug and Be Outside" event with activities planned for May 9-11. The event features a variety of free events designed to encourage kids, adults and families to put away their TVs, computers and phones and be physically active.
Each youth that collects event leader signatures on their passport, by attending two or more events during the week, is eligible for the fun prize drawing. If youth can't make it to a scheduled event, they can still participate and be entered to win prizes by visiting two or more city parks or trails. They will just need to enter the date, park/trail visited and what they did there on their passport.
Passports can be printed from the city's website, picked up at event locations or at the Parks and Recreation office in Sandpoint City Hall. Passports can be left with your last activity leader or dropped off at Parks and Recreation by 5 p.m. Friday, May 12. Drawing winners will be notified by Wednesday, May 17.
This year’s events include Schweitzer obstacle course, YMCA yard games, sand volleyball with the Volleyball Club, parkour, POP minibike rodeo, pickleball, an obstacle course with Boy Scout Troop 111, EBC Library building straw rockets and ultimate frisbee.
