Rodriguez will keep harmful books from children

Bonner County is a great place to raise children. The library is a place where children can gather and socialize in an environment centered around learning and exploring.

Seeing the lines of children streaming from school to the Sandpoint library reassures me.

I was shocked to discover that our library is making a book available to children that instruct children to take photos, upload them to dating apps, and use those apps to "hook up" with random people via the internet.

The same book also attempts to stoke interest in sexually oriented bars/clubs and even describes things such as playing with human waste (I'm using a euphemism purposefully).

For some reason that I don't understand, a very small minority of our county's citizens promote giving children open, easy access to books like this in our community library.

They say that our library doesn't have books like that. I encourage everyone to check the facts for themselves; I did and was shocked.

The book, "This Book is Gay" by James Dawson, is available electronically and targeted at young adults. In library terms, young adult means 12-18 and that stuff is included.

Stacy Rodriguez suggests the library keeps such books in an area to which children don't have free access without parental consent.

This makes sense to me. I'm voting for Stacy Rodriguez for East Bonner County Library Board on May 16.
