Susan Shea is the best choice for EBCL
You can’t fix what isn’t broken. This statement sums up my feelings regarding this election. The library is an amazing place; a gathering point for our community and is run very well. The library has not taken a 3% levy while Susan has been on the board, yet continues to expand programs! The library offers yoga, book clubs, story time, coding classes, mental health resources and more! Susan’s leadership has allowed the library to grow in offerings, yet not be a tax burden for the town.
You can’t fix what isn’t broken. Susan has been a Bonner County resident for decades; she understands the needs of this community. In contrast, her challenger only recently moved here in 2016 from California. As a lifelong Idahoan, I support Susan’s vision, as she has grown with this community.
You can’t fix what isn’t broken. The main message from the opposition is that the library has harmful books, and that we need to protect kids. This is the dominating message even though kids can find worse online. I have yet to see a letter that names a book or where it is located. The letters are vague tellings of supposedly harmful sexual content, yet no examples are given. I’m calling that out for what it is; fear-based manipulation. Statistically, libraries are safer for kids than schools, business and places of worship, according to the FBI, but that is another conversation.
You can’t fix what isn’t broken. Vote Susan Shea on May 16.
