Eight high school students from Priest River Lamanna High School were recently honored for their outstanding academic achievements in both the Idaho Top Scholar program as well as North Idaho Student Teacher Academic Recognition.

The Idaho Top Scholar Program honors the top 10% of high school juniors from each high school in North Idaho. Six PRLHS juniors were recognized this year for their hard work: Blake Livingston, Marley Burgess-Duquette, Allyson Barton, Jade Best, Hayden Bruns and Gauge Silva.

As for the NISTAR honors, each staff member picks two high school seniors from the top five in the class who are involved in school activities. In turn, the two seniors each pick a teacher that has made the biggest impact in their life. They then have the opportunity to give a speech about how that teacher has impacted their life at the awards banquet.

This year’s seniors were Luke Butler and Zach Engelson. Butler chose to honor Gary Stewart and Engelson chose to honor Dan Caldwell.
