Cynthia Margaret Hopkins, 80

Cynthia Margaret Hopkins, 80, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Private family services have been held.

Cynthia was born April 11, 1943, in Ventura, Calif., to Raymond and Margaret Rainey. She grew up in Fillmore, Calif., and graduated from Hueneme High School. She attended beauty school and received her cosmetology license.

Cynthia married Ronny Chesser in 1961 in Ventura. They had two sons and later divorced.

Cynthia then married Don Hopkins in 1968. They lived in Santa Paula, Calif., and Cynthia worked for Toppings Footwear in Fillmore for 28 years.

In 2006, she moved to Sandpoint to be closer to her mother. She enjoyed planning weddings, making cakes, making jewelry and needlework.

She is survived by her son, Boyd (Tonya) Hopkins of Hendersonville, Tenn.; mother Margaret Rainey of Sandpoint; three grandchildren, Justin, Alyssa and Crystal; two great-grandchildren and one brother, Guy Rainey of Clarkston, Wash.

She was preceded in death by her father; husband, Don Hopkins; 9-year-old son, Clay Chesser; and a brother, Harold Rainey.
