Rodriguez has pledged to represent everyone

| May 12, 2023 1:00 AM

Recently, people handing out flyers for the East Bonner County Library Board incumbent told library visitors that only Sandpoint residents could vote in the upcoming East Bonner County Library Board elections this May. That is false.

The dissemination of that misinformation is disenfranchising some EBCL district residents from the vote over the direction of their own library which is funded by their taxes. I hope that the spreading of such falsehoods is not intentional, but when I see similar falsehoods being spread about a supposed intention to “ban books” or “violate the First Amendment,” it does suggest that our current library board trustees may not be acting in good faith, as no such bans or restrictions of free speech have been proposed.

It is vitally important that those of us who live in Sagle, Ponderay, Kootenai, Hope, East Hope, Clark Fork, Selle Valley, Laclede, Dover, Cocolalla, Careywood, Bayview, and the rest of the eastern half of Bonner County understand that we do actually get a voice in how our library is run, even though some don’t seem to want us to have one. It is even more vital that we go to the polls and vote in this election.

So, I would urge East Bonner County residents to turn out and vote for Stacy Rodriguez to be the next EBC Library Board trustee on May 16. Rodriguez has pledged to represent the interests of everyone in the district and she addresses issues honestly and in good faith.
