Politics are least of worries unless we address climate change

| May 14, 2023 1:00 AM

Initially, climate change deniers argued the world's temperatures were not increasing. Eventually, they acknowledged global warming is real, but denied it is human-caused. Now they grudgingly admit anthropogenic warming is occurring, but deny it has serious consequences. Like the proverbial frog placed in a pot of tepid water on a stove burner, they sense the rising temperature but aren't aware they are in danger of overheating.

“Increasing temperatures; changing precipitation patterns; and more frequent, intense, and unpredictable extreme weather conditions caused by climate change are exacerbating existing risks and creating new security challenges for U.S. interests.” - Department of Defense

“We already see effects scientists predicted, such as the loss of sea ice, melting glaciers and ice sheets, sea level rise, and more intense heat waves.” - NASA

“Sea level rise accelerates, European glacier melt shatters records, extreme weather causes devastation.” - World Meteorological Organization

“Climate change is the single biggest health threat facing humanity.” - World Health Organization

“From more extreme weather to rising seas, the climate is changing in ways that pose increasing risks to people and ecosystems.” - National Academy of Sciences (Search the Internet for “Climate Change Impacts.”)

Some who deny climate change is in crisis mode do so out of a compulsive fear of socialist control. Socialist control will be the least of their worries if we do not take action now to turn things around.
