Clark Fork track and field sends six athletes to 1A state championship
KAMIAH — Six Clark Fork High School track and field athletes qualified for the 1A Idaho state championship this past weekend after competing in the 1A District track and field meet at Bob Squires Track in Kamiah.
Savannah Weymouth was able to place second in the pole vault with a vault of 9-0 to punch her ticket to Boise. Weymouth has been near the top of the results at nearly every meet this season.
Rachel Weymouth took the final qualifying spot in the pole vault with a vault of 6-0.
Hank Barrett and Nathan Shelton both qualified in the 110-meter hurdles. Barrett set a new personal record of 17.70 seconds on the day, almost a full second faster than his previous best. Shelton also qualified in the 300-meter hurdles by placing second with a time of 43.31 seconds.
Junior Wyatt Mintken qualified in both the 100 and 200-meter dash. Mintken finished fourth in the 200 with a new personal record of 24.04 seconds.
Rounding out the state qualifiers was freshman Westin Caven, who ran a new personal record of 5:05.66 in the 1600-meter to place sixth.
The Wampus Cats will head to the 1A track and field state meet, which will take place Friday, May 19 and Saturday, May 20 in Middleton.
