MOSCOW — The Priest River track and field teams competed in the 2A District championship at the Dan O’Brien Track and Field Complex on Thursday, May 11. The girls placed first with 113 points; the boys placed second with a score of 96.

It was the first district title since 2005 for the Priest River girls track and field team and only the second district title in school history. Nineteen Spartans automatically qualified for the state championship with their performances.

“What a great job our coaching staff has done; the kids were ready and performed well,” head coach Jared Hughes said. “Also, a big shout out to the trustees, staff, parents and community members who support the program. This was definitely a community effort. Hosting the meet at the University of Idaho was a lot of work, but the effort was worth it as it turned out to be an amazing experience for the kids.”
