Aviation club seeking new field to fly from

| May 19, 2023 1:00 AM

The Lake Radio Control Aviation Club is asking the community for help in finding a suitable flying field for the club to continue to fly their planes and serve the community.

The club — which has been in existence in Sandpoint for almost 20 years — is facing the risk of becoming extinct because they soon will no longer have a flying field to continue using. For the past four years, the city of Ponderay has allowed them to operate on the unused Field of Dreams in the McGhee Sports Complex. However, with the onset of Phase I of the construction project at this site, the club is being forced to find another field to operate from.

“The club’s leadership is eager to meet and discuss with any individual or organization regarding any land that may be suitable so [we] may continue as a club and continue to serve Sandpoint’s youth and the surrounding area,” said Rick Langlois, the club’s contact person.

Call Langlois at 406-425-2609 with any information regarding potential areas the club may be able to utilize.
