Priest River golfers compete at 2A state tournament
IDAHO FALLS — A trio of Priest River golfers competed at the 2A state golf tournament in Idaho Falls on Monday, May 15 and Tuesday, May 16 at the Sage Lakes Golf Course.
Luke Butler finished tied for 11th in the state with a combined score of 157. Butler’s consistency is what placed him so high; he shot a 78 in the first round and a 79 in the second round.
William Stockton finished in 13th place and almost shot an identical score. Stockton finished with a combined score of 158, the only difference from Butler was that he shot an 80 in the second round Tuesday.
Rounding out the Spartan state golfers was Jace Yount. Yount scored a combined 181 by shooting a consistent 91 and 90, respectively.
“It was a good tournament and the kids battled through all of it,” head coach Jacob Schultz said. “Despite not bringing home any hardware, it was a great experience for all of us down here.”
