Clark Fork High School’s Emily Myers, Jamie Herrick and Charlie Beaman competed at the Idaho 3A tennis state championship in Nampa on Friday, May 19.

Myers competed in the 3A girls singles bracket. In the first round, Myers lost to Heather Owens of Sugar-Salem 6-1, 6-1. In the consolation bracket, Myers suffered another loss to Fruitland’s Hallie Drollinger 6-2, 6-2. Despite the losses at state, Myers finishes out a fantastic high school sports career. The Clark Fork valedictorian qualified for the state championship in volleyball, basketball and tennis this year.

Herrick and Beaman competed in the 3A mixed doubles bracket. The duo dropped their first match to Taylor Ann Salvesen/Cade Grambo of Parma 3-6, 1-6. They then came from behind to beat Coeur d'Alene Charter’s Bonnie Brumlee/Thomas Strait, a team they had lost to at districts, in a three-set thriller 4-6, 6-3, 10-7. To finish out the day, the pair dropped their final match to Fruitland’s Kayce Haun/Will Phillips 1-6, 2-6.

“I was very pleased with their play for their first trip to the state championship,” head coach Jeff Emmer said. “I look forward to watching Jamie and Charlie develop into state contenders in the coming years.”
