Donald Lee Frank, 67

| May 24, 2023 1:00 AM

Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Donald Lee Frank on March 18, 2023, at the age of 67. Donnie passed away surrounded by his loved ones after a long battle with cancer.

Donnie was born March 5, 1956, in Glendive, Mont. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reinhold and Florence Frank; and brothers Leroy and Roger Frank.

He is survived by his three children, Justin Koogler (Amber) of Parma, Idaho, Stephanie Long (Joel) of Forest Grove, Ore., and Coleman Frank (Carolyn) of Sagle, Idaho; along with his 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Connie Bredberg (Paul) of Georgetown, Ky., Barbara Avery (Spark) of Hayden, Idaho, and Lisa Howlett of Post Falls, Idaho; along with his brothers, Gene Frank (Donna) of Jersey, Ark., Mike Frank (Shannon) of Post Falls, Idaho, and Dan Frank (Tracie) of Post Falls Idaho. In addition, he is survived by his numerous nieces and nephews and his many good friends, whom he considered family.

Donnie grew up in Post Falls as one of seven siblings in a working-class Lutheran family. In high school, he excelled at football and wrestling. He later became an avid golfer and devout fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Donnie loved being in the outdoors. He most enjoyed playing golf with his friends and family and, more than anything, spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was a hard worker and always gave 100% to his various jobs. He worked in heavy construction and as a golf course superintendent in both Idaho and Washington.

In his last few years, while working at the Coeur d’Alene Inn, the crew and regular customers became his second family. Guests often raved about the warm service Donnie provided. Donnie will always be remembered for the love he had for his family, his wry sense of humor and the light he carried despite his challenges.

A celebration of life will be held June 3, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the Coeur d’Alene Inn.

In lieu of flowers, if you feel led, we are asking for donations in Donnie’s memory be sent to the following: Hospice of North Idaho Schneidmiller Hospice House, 2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene ID 83815
