Koocanusa derby announces winning anglers
Koocanusa Resort and Marina recently held its 21st annual fishing derby.
Claiming first place with a 6-pound, 5-ounce rainbow trout was Jeff Miller; he won $1,843. Rob Dearman caught the second-place rainbow trout with a 6-pound, 2-ounce beauty; he won $1,316.
Mike Babbit caught the third-place rainbow trout with a 5-pound, 3-ounce beauty; he won $1,052. In fourth place is Brenda McCully, who caught a 4-pound, 9-ounce fish; she won $526. In fifth is Dave Chichester, a 4-pound, 4.8-ounce rainbow trout; he won $316; and in sixth place is James Butts, who caught a 4-pound, 4-ounce rainbow trout for a $210 prize
The kokanee are combined weight of 20. First place went to Brenda Stark with 4 pounds, 3 ounces, and 5 grams; she won $658. Second place went to Jon Olsen with 4 pounds 3 ounces and 3 grams; he won $395. Third place went to Kristy Whitney with 4 pounds 0 ounces; she won $262.40.
There were a total of 329 people and 120 boats taking part in this year’s derby.
