Politics and threats to our democratic republic

In response to Kathy Rose's letter (Daily Bee, May 25, 2023), while we dodged a bullet in re-electing Susan Shea to the library board, the reason Steve Johnson decided to switch to running for the state Senate instead of challenging Rep. Mark Sauter was two-fold.

Sauter is a "reasonable" common sense person who considers all points of view. On the other hand, Scott Herndon is a fanatic out-to-control extreme self-serving zealot with a radical agenda and saw him as the much greater threat to our democratic republic.
