Madeleine H. Jenks, 93

Madeleine H. Jenks passed away peacefully at home Oct. 24, 2023.

She was born Jan. 5, 1930, in New Haven, Conn., the only child of Wilbur and Lucille Hotchkiss. Shortly after graduating from Brandford High School in 1947, she married Carl Fritzell. During the next 10 years, she had four daughters and three sons.

In 1962, she divorced Carl, married Phillip Jenks in 1966 and moved the family to California, where she worked as a bookkeeper for Baxter Laboratories. She and Phillip divorced in 1968. Around 1975, she went to work in Alaska on the new Alaskan oil pipeline as a bookkeeper, where she worked until she retired.

She will best be remembered by everyone who knew her as a strong, hardworking mother who deeply loved her children and enjoyed life.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Albanese, Sandpoint, Gail Butcher, Sagle, and Carol Griffiths, Hayden; and her sons, Douglas (Bonnie) Fritzell, Hayden, Carl (Barbara) Fritzell, Hartford, Conn., and Gary Fritzell, Port Richey, Fla.; along with 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Elizabeth (Sternberg) Fritzell; and her grandson, Bryan White.
