Bryan Hult enlisted as an infantryman on May 4, 1978, and separated from the service as a senior Army chaplain on September 30, 2010.

He completed Officer Candidate School in July, 1979, Jump School, the Infantry Officer Basic Course in January, 1980 and Rotary Wing Flight training in November, 1980.

In 1984, after serving as a helicopter pilot at Fort Hood Texas in a variety of aviation positions, he separated from active duty to pursue seminary training in Portland, Ore. After completion of his training in 1987, he transferred from Army Aviation to Army Chaplaincy Corps and pastored for the next 27 years. During those years, he served in the Army Reserves and Indiana Army National Guard at all levels of duty and completed the Army War College in 2004.

His last duty assignment was as the assistant chief of chaplains for the Army National Guard, which allowed him to be an advocate for chaplains, chaplain assistants and soldiers in all components of the Army.

Bryan and his wife Barbara moved from Indianapolis, Indiana, to make their home in Sandpoint, Idaho, in September 2014. Bryan has been a speaker, counselor, trainer, and advocate for people from all walks of life.

He just retired as the Bonner County Veteran Service Officer after more than eight years of “serving Bonner County Veterans, one hero at a time.”
