I spent 15 months on my tour in Vietnam where I was deployed with the 101st Airborne Artillery from 1970-1971. It was an interesting experience for a young guy from the upper Midwest.

When I returned back home I got on with life, not giving the war in Vietnam much thought except I felt it was a useless government flop.

Fifty years later and being retired for many years, I have had time to reflect on my Vietnam tour. Having been directly/indirectly responsible for many VC deaths, it kind of wears on a person; Iraq, Afghanistan and now Ukraine. All the same kind of wars. They accomplished nothing except spending trillions of dollars. Iraq, weapons of mass destruction … not. Afghanistan, 20 years and leave billions of dollars of weapons to the Taliban.

We need to ignore the pressure from the administration and the media to be divided. We are Americans.

War is not the answer.
