SANDPOINT — High GPAs, excellent PSAT scores, and small town living recently earned 13 Sandpoint High School students honors from the College Board through its National Rural and Small Town Recognition program.

Criteria for eligible students include a GPA of 3.5 or higher and PSAT assessment scores within the top 10% of assessment takers in each state for each award program or they must have earned a score of three or higher on two or more AP exams in ninth and 10th grade. They also must attend a school in a rural area or small town.

The students recognized include Jett Longanecker, Keane Haesle, Eva Sloan, Alexandra David, Fisher Dail, Torin Haesle, Riley Myers, Lane Harris, Ruby Evans, Genevieve Hughes, Graciella Cheney, Lillian Richardson and Shane Sherrill.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate our students and recognize them for the great work they’ve been doing,” Jeralyn Mire, post-secondary transition counselor at SHS, said. “We’re proud of their strong academic performance in the classroom and on College Board assessments like the PSAT/NMSQT and AP exams. There’s so much that makes our students unique, and receiving this honor reinforces this as an asset for their future.”
