Thomas Freeman, 71

Thomas Culver Freeman, 71, retired Long Beach firefighter, passed away Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. 

A celebration of life was held in Idaho. His ashes will be scattered at sea in the future.

Tom was born on Sept. 2, 1952, in Long Beach, Calif., to Don and Rita Freeman. He graduated from Millikan High School in 1970.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1974 and was based in Hawaii, where he served as a Vulcan crewman.

He served 25 years with the Long Beach Fire Department and retired in 2002. 

Tom moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, after leaving the fire department. Then after about 18 years, he moved to Yuma, Ariz.

Tom was an excellent carpenter and helped many people build and remodel homes.

He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He rode coast to coast several times and rode his bike to Alaska and back.

Tom is survived by his niece and nephew, Sri Divel and Chad Freeman, siblings of his twin brother Jerry Freeman, who passed away in 2017.
