Company aims to help military
In the spirit of giving, Crown Royal has partnered with Packages from Home to send a little cheer to members of the military deployed for the holiday season.
This year, the company has created the Purple Bag Project, sending care packages full of snacks to military members, free of charge.
“Crown Royal believes that it's not about what you have, but what you give and how you give it,” officials said on the company’s website.
Each package arrives in repurposed purple bags, Crown Royal’s signature alcohol bag.
The process is easy for those who want to send a complimentary care package. Simply go on the website and choose from a list of items military members have said they enjoy receiving while deployed. Senders can also send a personalized message with their care package if they choose.
“With your help, we have packed over 1,000,000 and counting,” officials said.
Packages from Home, supported by Crown Royal, was started by a mother whose son enlisted in the U.S. Army immediately after witnessing the horrors of Sept. 11, 2001. What began as one care package sent to a deployed soldier quickly turned into hundreds being sent across the globe.
“Today, Packages From Home’s primary purpose is to provide food, personal care and recreational items to deployed American servicemen and women from every branch of the military, at no cost to them, while simultaneously supporting the needs of military working/service dogs and veterans who have returned home,” their website said.
