Judith Hammer, 78

Judy Lynn Hammer, 78, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, at her home in Kootenai, Idaho.

Memorial services will be held in the spring at North Summit Church.

Judy was born July 27, 1945, in San Francisco, Calif., to Pearl Jr. and Mayme Carter Deal. She grew up and attended schools in Springfield, Ohio, graduating high school in 1963. 

She worked at Security National Bank, starting as a teller and then moving up to the credit department. Afterwards, she left banking and worked as the secretary for the finance director of the city of Springfield. She married Michael Hammer on May 28, 1977, in Springfield. They started their family in Springfield before moving to Troutdale, Ore., in 1988. In 2021, she moved to Sandpoint to be closer to family.

Judy attended North Summit Church in Sandpoint, and Pleasant Home Community and Mountainview Christian Church while living in Gresham, Ore. She enjoyed big band music, reading, studying the Bible, needlework, watching mysteries, musicals, squirrels and butterflies. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Michael Hammer of Sandpoint; two children, Kristy (Jake) Spotts of Federal Way, Wash., and Mark (Lindsey) Hammer of Sandpoint; five grandchildren, Denny, Anna, Ben, Maci, and Malachi; and one brother, Ron (Rose) Deal of Troy, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Rick and Randy Deal.
