Viola Vlasak, 405 S. First Ave., was winner of the GE automatic griddle given away during the annual Sprouse Reitz Customers’ Appreciation event last Sunday. DISCOURAGE CHRISTMAS LIGHTING

Lighting for holiday decorations will not be used by Pacific Power & Light offices this year. The utility is discouraging Christmas lighting contests and the use of outside holiday lights, and asks customers to minimize inside decorative lighting. Those who choose to use indoor Christmas lighting should try to compensate for the increased energy consumption by eliminating other lighting or energy uses. “Every kilowatt hour saved now helps to keep water in the Northwest reservoirs for use at a later time,” explained Bert Leonard, PP & L district manager.

Nov. 30, 1948 – PROPELLER WASH

Flying conditions have limited activities at the field for several days, causing flights to be cancelled.

Tom Weisz, Kootenai, is making good use of modern transportation. Weisz, an experienced trapper, left last week to set his trap lines at the head of Lightning creek near Moose lake. This is unusually rough country, requiring some time to pack in a camp. Because the trapping season is shorter this year, Mr. Weisz decided to employ Don Kramer to fly in part of his supplies, taking only enough to set up one camp when he went in last Tuesday. On Thursday, Kramer, operator of the Sandpoint Air Service, flew over a prearranged site and dropped several parachutes of supplies, including a camp stove, bedding, clothing, and grub.
