Oct. 1, 1973 – COLLECTOR’S BOTTLE

The Jim Beam (bourbon) people are designing a special souvenir bottle, to be available throughout Washington State during the Expo ’74 World’s fair, May 4 - Nov. 3. Of the 500,000 bottle collectors in the U.S., 8,000 are in the International Assn. of Jim Beam Bottle Clubs. The Northwest Jim Beam Bottle Collectors Association is headquartered in Spokane.

LUCILLE MOLINE ENGAGED

Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Moline, Sagle, announce the engagement of their daughter, Lucille Carol, to Larry Blydenstein, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herb Blydenstein, Lake Oswego, Ore. Miss Moline, a 1971 Sandpoint High graduate, is employed as a secretary by Kilsby Tube Supply on Swan Island in Portland, Ore. Mr. Blydenstein is majoring in accounting at Portland State. They are planning a December wedding.

EIGHT 4-HERS ATTEND STYLE REVUE

Eight Bonner County 4-H members participated in the annual North Idaho Subdistrict Demonstration and Style Revue Contests in Plummer on Sept. 22. Winning purple awards were Polly Hawkins, Style Funtime Favorites; Susan Chronic and Kathleen Murray, Stylish Separates; Linda Murray, Evening Elegance. In Demonstrations, purples were won by: Trudy Davaz, Rub A Dub Sub, Fun In the Tub; Lori Price, Dehorning Cattle; and Sharin Biss, Selection of A Breeding Ewe. Linda Murray won gold for Fun With Color. Mrs. Lawana Olson, Sagle, and Mrs. Stella Hawkins, Sagle, were judges for the event.

Oct. 1, 1948 – BLUEBACK TONNAGE BIG

Most spectacular fishing development this year at Lake Pend Oreille—noted ordinarily for its king-size Kamloops rainbow trout—has been the substantial tonnage of blueback salmon taken by anglers. One Hope couple reportedly has over 2000 of the fish in storage, while a group of eight visitors recently took more than 1300 bluebacks during a two-week stay.

Students leaving the area recently for various colleges were: Kenneth Evans and Douglas Moran - Farragut College and Technical Institute; Jim Martin - Oregon State college; Evelyn Ferguson - Holy Names academy, Spokane; Robert Farmin - Lakeside school, Seattle; John Hunt - Hill’s military academy, Portland; Dean Larson - University of Washington dental college; Virginia Thomas and Janet Welo - Dental Nurses’ school, San Francisco; Billy Loman - Colorado State Teachers college, Greeley; Robert Congdon, Virginia Stewart and Patsy Bates - Washington State college at Pullman; Bud Jones, Jim Nelson, Arnold Eidam and Jim Jones - Gonzaga, Spokane; Barbara Weaver and Ralph Walter - Eastern Washington College; Evan Rue - Denver university; Evelyn Kalb and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Denison - North Idaho College of Education, Lewiston; Wm. Stewart, Jr. - American Institute for Foreign Trade at Phoenix, Ariz.
