Providence Road developer should pay for a light
The 116-lot subdivision proposed for Providence Road abutting the Seven Sisters development will not only adversely affect the Seven Sisters development and those homes along Providence Road, but also the Ponder Point and Whiskey Jack communities and the future residents of the project.
The subdivider will be collecting his checks in Florida, while the surrounding communities will be left to deal with the aftermath. The Seven Sisters residents have real concerns that the project will cause serious flooding to their homes. The subdivider says that his experts have determined that there will be no problem. What would you expect from the people you pay to do a study? The Seven Sisters engineer reviewed the study and found it wanting. A qualified, unbiased third-party should look into this matter. If the subdivider is so sure that there will be no problem, then he should indemnify the people in Seven Sisters against losses due to his project.
This project will impact the surrounding communities by generating nearly 1,200 vehicle trips! This will make the intersection of Highway 200, Seven Sisters Drive, and Kootenai Bay Road even much more dangerous and difficult to negotiate than it is currently. The subdivider's experts did not address this intersection in their traffic report! This intersection is the only entry and exit for the 200 families in Ponder Point and Whiskey Jack. During times of emergency, a traffic signal is critical. Remember Lahaina. Since the subdivider will exacerbate this situation, he should pay for the signal.
