NEWPORT — The Spartans defeated Newport for the second time this season, 3-2 (25-27, 25-22, 25-23, 18-25, 15-6), this time getting the better of the Grizzles on the road.
Allyson Barton played a big role in the Spartans' victory Tuesday night piling up a season-high six blocks.
"Allyson (Barton) dominated with her blocks," head coach Katlyn Ward said. "She was all over the place.
Also contributing in big ways for the Spartans was Jayda Storro who led the team in aces (4) and in assists (31), and Helena White who had a team-high 19 kills.
"Helena (White) showed us her hitting skills last night," Ward said. "Our second win over Newport feels great."
Priest River (5-3, 1-2) will travel to Riverside to take on the Rams Saturday.
