Let's pack the stands for soccer championships

Every time I walk into Memorial Field for a Sandpoint High School football game, I get a huge, heartwarming feeling of community pride. I am amazed at how we, such a small community, can overfill the stands in support of our football team.

Last Friday night, I was talking to a varsity soccer mom at the game, and she openly expressed her wish that we could fill the stadium in a similar fashion for the soccer teams, especially given that this Thursday is the district championship game for both girls and boys. I agreed wholeheartedly.

I don’t have skin in the game; none of my children play a sport that has stadium seating, but our family loves to support our hard-working Bulldogs. My plea to all of you is to come out to the girls varsity soccer championship game at 5 p.m. Thursday and then keep warming that seat for the 7 p.m. boys varsity soccer game. Both teams are so fun to watch, and they have put in long hours and hard work to get them to the state championship. 

Let’s show them our community pride and fill the stadium Thursday night.
