Library hosting First Amendment talk
The First Amendment to the Constitution is less than 50 words, yet it has generated countless of interpretations and questions over the years.
Is free speech absolute? Is hate speech free speech? Is censorship ever OK? How has social media impacted free speech?
To consider these and other questions, The Idaho Humanities Council is sponsoring a community conversation that will be moderated Bill Manny from Idaho Public Television and Jan Johnson from the University of Idaho.
Attendees will be invited to share their thoughts and perhaps develop new perspectives. This is not a lecture, panel, town hall, or presentation and participants don’t need any expertise to participate.
The program on the First Amendment and on freedom of speech will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 at the library. The library is located at 118 Main St. in Priest River.

Also on tap at the library is a seed saving class Thursday. The program begins at 2 p.m.
West Bonner Library seed savers invites anyone who saves seeds or wishes to learn about seed saving to attend a Thursday program. The group will package donated and locally grown seeds and share planting successes and failures, and plans for next year's garden.
The Seed Library is a free library program that encourages gardeners to save locally adapted seeds and increase our ability to feed ourselves.
