Six Sandpoint Trailblazers medal at season finale in Lolo
LOLO, Mont. — Out of the 22 riders the Sandpoint Trailblazers brought to their season finale race, the Lolo Landing, last Saturday held at the Lolo National Forest, six ended up bringing home medals back to Sandpoint.
“It was a brisk chilly night, but the morning of the race was a beautiful sunrise and an excellent clear day of blue sky racing,” head coach Mike Martz said.
The following Trailblazers reached the podium on Saturday: Trent Roberts, second place, JV2 boys; Noah Schroder, first place, JV3 boys; Zoe Honsinger, third place, 8th-grade girls; Cody Warwick, fifth place, 8th-grade boys; Iona Tuohy, third place, 7th-grade girls; and Olivia Coffman, fifth place, 7th-grade girls.
Roberts and Schroder also came home with another award Saturday. The two received a high school race series podium award due to being among the top 5 highest-placing athletes in the Montana Cycling League this season.
“It was an awesome season,” Martz said. “One of the best things was to see all the kids put in hard work and improve both their skills and their fitness. Having kids up on the podium at every race was just icing on the cake.”
