Karen Evans, 74
Karen Ann Evans (Henderson) of Avon, Ohio, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, unexpectedly passed away on Oct. 9, 2023, at the age of 74.
Karen was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, on Feb. 28, 1949. She graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1967 and attended Central Washington State University. Over the years, Karen resided in Sandpoint, Idaho; Portland, Ore.; Eden Prairie, Minn.; Lakewood, Ohio; and Green Valley, Ariz.
Karen is survived by her husband and best friend of 54 years, Stephen Pier Evans; children, Stephanie Evans Greene (Christopher Greene) of Cohasset, Mass., and Michael Evans (Karen Lynch) of Wyoming, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Alexia, Tyler, Finn, and Charlie.
Karen was a loving and supportive wife and mother. But it was her calling in life to be the world’s greatest grandma. She celebrated and supported each grandchild for their unique talents and personalities. Her care and attention to detail in understanding what they were individually passionate about was incredibly special.
She loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren, whether it was baking Christmas cookies, cheering them on at one of their sporting events, or playing a fierce game of Uno. She relished laughing and telling stories with her family. Her wicked sense of humor, empathy for others, and commitment to family will be greatly missed.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Karen’s name to The Massachusetts General Hospital NeoNatal Intensive Care Unit at giving.massgeneral.org/donate.
