UCAN Halloween fundraiser promises spooky fun

| October 13, 2023 1:00 AM

A Halloween fundraiser promises a night of spooky thrills, entertainment, and charitable giving — all aimed at helping a local organization dedicated to helping athletes of all abilities.

The inaugural event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Unique Center for Athletes of all Needs, 1007 W. Superior. The event will be held from 5:30-11:30 p.m.

UCAN's Halloween fundraiser is more than just a costume party; it's a celebration of community, philanthropy, and the spirit of giving back. This year's fundraiser will be a night to remember, filled with enchanting surprises and memorable experiences.

Among the activities planned is a Halloween-themed feast prepared by Trinity at City Beach. For dessert, attendees can pick from one of 12 amazing Halloween-themed desserts provided by local bakers.

In addition, there will be a costume contest, entertainment, music, dancing, a casino room, and "spine-tingling fun." A bar will be provided by 113 Main with free beer and wine.

Organizers said live and silent auctions are planned, with a number of unique items and experiences.

"Your contributions will make a real difference in the lives of those we serve," organizers said in a press release.

The UCAN Halloween Gala is not only a night of entertainment but also an opportunity to support the Sandpoint-based organization. All proceeds will go directly toward supporting fitness and nutrition for those with special needs.

"Your contributions will make a real difference in the lives of those we serve," organizers said in a press release.

The dress code is "Halloween chic," with costumes encouraged. Tickets are $80 each, or $1,100 per table.

Founder Kelli But said UCAN is driven by a single goal: to do its part in making the Sandpoint special needs community stronger.

"At UCAN, our mission is to empower special needs individuals through fitness and nutrition," she said in a press release. "We plan to provide group exercise, nutrition guidance, social interaction, and fun."

Donations help UCAN make a measurable difference in the lives of these unique individuals in the community. Any and all donations that UCAN receives go directly to the support of group classes for all ages.

Classes are offered free of charge to UCAN athletes.
