Oct. 17, 1973 – VP AGNEW RESIGNS
Spiro Agnew has pleaded nolo contendere to charges of tax evasion and resigned his position as Vice-President of the United States. His dramatic resignation is in total opposition to previous claims of innocence, serving as a further black mark on an administration already tainted by political scandal.

ANNA LYN BALCH WEDS THOMAS EVANS
Miss Anna Lyn Balch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loran Balch of Sagle, and Thomas Frank Evans, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Evans of Sandpoint, were married Sept. 1 at First Presbyterian Church. After honeymooning at Priest Lake and Grand Coulee, Wash., the newlyweds are home at 1104 Poplar St. Mrs. Evans, who attended North Idaho College, is employed by the U.S. Forest Service. Mr. Evans, who attended the U of I, works for Cady & Pier, Inc.

CLARK FORK SCHOOL CARNIVAL FRIDAY
On Friday, a program at the Clark Fork School will be followed by the crowning of a King and Queen, who will be elected by the Student Body. Next will be the opening of carnival booths including games of chance and skill, a cakewalk, fish pond, country store, and a refreshments booth. A door prize of a quarter of beef will be given away. King and Queen candidates are seniors Robin Maloney and Mel Kummer; juniors Susie Stender and Jeff Thompson; sophomores Roberta Reed and Marshall Shropshire; freshmen Arlan Ruen and Kellie May.

26 TEACHERS ENROLLED IN COURSE
There were 26 enrolled at the initial meeting of the extension course for teachers being taught each Friday night by L.V. Hughes, superintendent of city schools. At this week’s session, Mrs. Ramsey Pearce will discuss how home influences affect the attitude of children in school. Enrolled in the course are Blanche Senft, Margaret Kalb, Rose McFarland, Mildred Becker, Esther Weaver, Margaret Hunter, Lewis Harro and Gertrude Bower, all of Sandpoint; Bethayne Robinson, Lois Morris and Hazel Rummell of Sagle; Orlando Naccarato, Richard Naccarato, Esther McInnis, Teresa Dalva and Marguerite Binkley, Priest River; Neta Johnson, Samuels; Hazel Brodkord, Algoma; Walter Campbell and Janet Campbell, Pack River; Hannah Martin, Gladys Ward and Edna Roth, Kootenai; Hazel Palmer, Oden; Marie Wallace and Kathryn Kateron, Careywood.

HENRY LUNN HEADS LOCAL CAMERA CLUB
Sandpoint Camera club elected officers for the next year. To be installed on November 4 are: President, Henry Lunn; vice-president, Anna Foster; secretary-treasurer, Ruth Evenson. In the same order the following will retire from those offices: Dr. C.C. Wendle, Jim Parsons, Jr., and Edith Gissel.
