Why mess with perfection; keep park as it is
As Helen Newton so aptly put it "Why mess with perfection"? She was referring to the destruction of the children's playground and the removal of 20 healthy, mature trees in Travers Park to make way for a building that will house a pickleball court.
Over the years, I have watched this beautiful slice of nature evolve into a safe place for children to play and seniors to walk. The atmosphere is peaceful and serene and should remain so for future generations to enjoy.
If you must destroy something that is already beautiful, functional, and beloved by many, then there really isn't room for it in the first place.
The city of Sandpoint needs to take a step back and find a more suitable location, as this has created much discord in the community and tainted a very generous gift.
