William Yeager, 85

William Eugene “Bill” Yeager, Jr., 85, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, at the Washington State Veteran’s Cemetery in Medical Lake, Wash. Viewing for friends will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint.

Bill was born March 5, 1938, in Cheyenne, Wyo., to Willian and Helen Yeager. He was a very friendly but independent man. He served his country during the Vietnam era in the United States Army.

After becoming blind due to a stroke, area residents helped him get "Priestap,” a guide dog from Leader Dog’s for the Blind, an organization established in 1939 by the Lion’s Club.  

Bill loved nature and walking. He spoke of the many adventures he took throughout his life while backpacking around the world.

He is survived by many friends, neighbors, caregivers, and his dog, “Priestap.”
