Woman sentenced to 12 years for intent to distribute fentanyl
Earlier this week, a 53-year-old Bonner County woman was sentenced to 12 years in prison after she pled guilty to possession of fentanyl with intent to deliver.
Bonner County Judge Lamont Berecz sentenced Kristy L. Miller to four determinate years, eight indeterminate years in prison for the distribution of the drug. Miller was arrested in May by Priest River Police and Bonner County Sheriff’s Office deputies after a months-long investigation was conducted into the sale of fentanyl pills in the county.
Detectives were able to execute a search warrant at Miller’s residence, arrest Miller and locate evidence related to her ongoing distribution of fentanyl pills into the community.
According to Bonner County Sheriff’s Office Detective Jon VanGesen, investigators located over 200 Fentanyl pills, a safe, drug ledgers, a digital scale, unused ziploc baggies, burnt foil with a partial fentanyl pill, hollow plastic tubes for smoking fentanyl, over $500, and about two grams of methamphetamine.
In Idaho, the Good Samaritan Law protects citizens from arrest for helping anyone they think is having an overdose, even if the caller is carrying controlled substances or drug paraphernalia themselves. Call 9-1-1 immediately for Emergency Medical Services if someone isn’t responding or you think an overdose has happened. Every second counts.
