Decision was based on being conflicted

Don't let the media over-dramatize last night's events.

My decision was not about the trees. My decision was based on being conflicted over the legacy of the long-standing Travers family name and the future needs of our community.

I threw my fellow loved and well-respected council members under the bus. They deserved better. I am prepared to deal with the consequences of my decision. 

I have become very accustomed to being misunderstood.

Joel, Deb, Jason, Justin, Shelby, and especially Jennifer, Maeve, and Kate … I am sorry.

As for the citizens, when you see me — ask me.

And, in no way, align me and my action with those who chained themselves to trees and those who disrespected the Russell family.
