Put the rope swing back

| October 22, 2023 1:00 AM

The first time I spoke to Deb Ruehle, she impressed me with her dedication to Sandpoint values: family, openness, transparency, and nuanced approaches to the fast-changing face of Sandpoint. I was horrified by the designs for downtown. She reassured me that the plans are working documents that require much revision to incorporate Sandpoint values. She asked for my input, focused and interested in what I said. She doesn't win or lose battles. Her aim is to preserve Sandpoint values.

I do not always agree with Deb's votes, but I trust her vision for Sandpoint, her experience living here; her focus on practical infrastructure (sewer, transportation), nature, recreation, and family. Her institutional knowledge is key. She served on the planning commission for two years and then on the city council for ten.

Deb learns from experience — not just hers, but anyone who is willing to share their own. She gets things done by understanding and doing things citizens want.

Deb Reuhle wants to put the rope swing back over Sand Creek. I want to keep her on the city council.

There is an interview with her available on KRFY radio (krfy.org, Oct 11, "Local Decision" podcast) for more detail.
